What is Cryoablation?

An arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm. When the heart doesn't beat properly, it can't pump the proper amount of blood to the lungs, brain and other organs. 

Carl Musser, M.D., a Carilion Clinic cardiologist who specializes in treating heart rhythm disorders, explains one treatment option called "cryoablation." This treatment basically freezer burns areas where electrical currents are causing problems for the heart.
